How to Connect Your Etsy Shop to ChatGPT
You already ask ChatGPT to write titles and tags. Then you copy and paste them into Etsy one listing at a time. What if ChatGPT could look at your actual shop, see which listings need help, and prepare the changes for you, with nothing going live until you say yes?
That’s what ConnectMyShop does. This guide shows you how to set it up in a few minutes, with no code and no API keys.

Why connect your Etsy shop to ChatGPT?
Without a connection, ChatGPT can’t see your shop. You have to paste in every listing, and then paste every answer back into Etsy.
Once your shop is connected, you can ask in plain English, and ChatGPT does the digging through your listings:
- Find listings that get views but no sales
- Spot listings using fewer than 13 tags
- Rewrite titles for the season, across many listings at once
- Change prices for only certain sizes or variants
- Draft new listings as unpublished drafts
- Summarize your orders and low stock
It’s built for busy shops, like print-on-demand sellers with hundreds of listings who update titles, tags and prices every season.
What you need
- An Etsy seller account with a shop.
- A free ConnectMyShop account. You create it by signing in with Etsy. No developer account or API keys.
- ChatGPT on the web (chatgpt.com) or the desktop app, on a plan that lets you add custom apps.
Step-by-step: connect Etsy to ChatGPT
Step 1: Connect your Etsy shop to ConnectMyShop
- Go to connectmyshop.app and click Connect your shop.
- Choose whether to include order summaries, then sign in on Etsy’s own page. ConnectMyShop never sees your Etsy password.
Your dashboard then shows your connector link, plus a 20-second setup video for ChatGPT.
Step 2: Add ConnectMyShop as an app in ChatGPT
- Go to chatgpt.com/plugins (or Plugins in the ChatGPT desktop app).
- Click Add, then Create MCP App.
- Name it ConnectMyShop.
- Under Connection → Server URL, paste this link:
https://connectmyshop.app/mcp
- Keep OAuth as the authentication.
- Tick I understand and want to continue, then click Create.
Step 3: Sign in and choose permissions
- When ChatGPT asks, sign in with Etsy (or your passkey).
- Choose what ChatGPT may do: read your shop, suggest changes, see order summaries, and (optionally) publish.
- Click Allow.
Step 4: Use it in a chat
Start a new chat, type @, select ConnectMyShop, and ask your question. That’s it.
Prompts you can copy
- “Which of my listings get views but no sales?”
- “Show me my draft listings and tell me which ones have fewer than 13 tags.”
- “Rewrite the titles of my five lowest-view listings for Etsy search, keeping each under 140 characters.”
- “Raise prices on all my sweatshirts by 10%, but only the 2XL and larger sizes.”
- “Add the tag ‘teacher gift’ to every listing with ‘teacher’ in the title.”
- “Draft a listing for my new winter candle.”
- “Which items are almost out of stock?”
- “Undo the price change you made this morning.”
How approvals and safety work
Nothing changes in your shop until you approve it. When ChatGPT suggests a change, you get an approval card with a before-and-after preview: changed words highlighted, tags added and removed, and prices per variant. Then you choose:
- Approve once
- Always approve that kind of change from that AI
- Decline
If the card doesn’t appear in your chat, ChatGPT gives you a direct link to the request in your ConnectMyShop dashboard.
Other built-in protections:
- No surprise overwrites. If a listing changed on Etsy after the preview, the edit is skipped instead of overwriting your work.
- Drafts first. New listings are saved as unpublished drafts. Publishing is a separate permission, off by default.
- No deleting. Deleting listings isn’t supported.
- Undo. Edits, price changes and deactivations can be undone from your dashboard. Prices are restored exactly from a backup.
- Expiry. Requests expire after 24 hours.
- Full history. Every request and approval is logged.
Your Etsy login stays private: you sign in on Etsy’s own page, your access tokens are encrypted and never given to ChatGPT, buyer names, addresses and contact details are never shared with the AI, and ConnectMyShop doesn’t sell your data or use it to train AI models.
Troubleshooting
I don’t see Add → Create MCP App. Your ChatGPT plan or workspace may not allow custom apps yet. On a company workspace, ask an admin.
ChatGPT says it can’t make a change. Check that app’s permissions in your ConnectMyShop dashboard. Editing, drafts and publishing are separate switches, and publishing is off by default.
ChatGPT shows a Connect button instead of answering. Your connection was removed or expired. Click Connect and sign in again.
I approved a change but it didn’t apply. Approvals expire after 24 hours, and a change is also stopped if the listing was edited on Etsy after the preview. Ask ChatGPT to propose it again to get a fresh preview.
FAQ
How much does it cost? There’s a free plan with 100 Etsy requests a day, about 20–30 listing edits. Basic is $9.99/month (or $99/year) for 2,000 requests a day, and Pro is $24.99/month (or $249/year) for 5,000. Every plan includes all features; paid plans raise the daily limit. You keep paying for ChatGPT as usual, with no AI credits to buy.
Is it safe? ChatGPT can only propose changes. You approve each one after seeing exactly what will change, and you can undo edits and price changes. Your Etsy password and access tokens are never shared with the AI, and you can disconnect ChatGPT or your whole shop in one click.
Do I need to be technical? No. You sign in with Etsy and paste one link.
Can ChatGPT change my shop without asking? Only if you choose that. You can turn on automatic approval for a specific kind of change in your dashboard. It’s still logged, and you can switch it off any time.
Does it work with Claude too? Yes, see How to connect your Etsy shop to Claude.
What’s “MCP”? It’s the standard way AI assistants plug into other apps. You don’t need to know anything about it. You just paste the link.
